For months, no one was allowed the gates of the palace alone. Amira thought it was time to take out her old necklace again. She took a metal from underneath her bed and took up a few of her floor20boards. She wanted to experiment with it. she looked at the bubble on the end. All of a sudden she started to wonder. All of the other necklaces that she had seen had something hanging off the chain. This bubble was actually like a part of the chain. Why was this? She squeezed the glass bubble as hard as she possibly could. She tried to break it, but couldn't. Amira took the metal bar to the bubble and tried to smash it open. It wouldn't shatter.
The next day she had an idea. The colors were now plentiful in her bubble, but when she had gotten it there were only about three of them. She went to the Old One. Something she had promised herself she would never do. "Excuse me," she asked sweetly "I was just thinking. When I was given this delectable necklace, there were barley and colors. Now, there are so many colors it is hard to pick them out! What is this made of?""Glass, my dear. But don't take it off;” the Old One said sharply, “it looks so much better when it is on you."Amira looked down at the necklace that she had so carefully placed on her neck. As she looked down, it seemed like the colors were moving. What was this? Why was all of this happening?
