Jessan just stared. "How on earth did you get him?"
"Her." she corrected him. "She saved me. A huge wild cat came and attacked me. i don't know why. I heard Klea calling, and so i followed her. Then, she saved me from the cat. i think i shall name him Catire.""You're naming the cat that almost killed you?" That’s just how she was.

Chapter Two #two (veruca)
One afternoon, when Amira and Jessan were out in the forest collecting beautiful striped rocks from a dried up riverbed, Amira heard a loud whinnie off in the distance. "Jessan! Did you hear that...I hear a horse!" without even waiting for an answer, she jumped up and climbed a fallen tree out of the riverbed. Sprinting toward the noise, Amira could hear jessan yelling after her, “Amira! Stop or I shall call the king's cavalry on you!" she knew he was kidding, so Amira kept running. Closer and closer and closer, she could hear it better now, so she started to slow down. Then, it happened... there was a clearing formed by large oak trees that towered over her. amira looked around for the noise she loved so much had stopped. She looked at her torn green dress and scraped arms. All of a sudden, she heard a sound, but not the sound she had heard before. Amira turned around and there crouching before her was a big wild cat. His long tail swished around and he leaped upon her! Amira screamed. The enormous puma's claws were digging into her shoulders. Finally, hope came. "Help me Jessan!" she cried. The puma suddenly slinked off her body and ran into the woods. Amira rolled over to get a better look at her rescuer. But instead of Jessan's tall leather boots, she saw a pair of hooves. Following them up and up she saw its coat; dark gray. Still up was its face. The horse that saved her. A tall, gorgeous mare with a midnight black mane and gleaming brown eyes. Amira shakily stood to examine a large gash in the side of her flank that she assumed was caused by the wild cat. Hearing footsteps she turned around. "You idiot Amira! What was that all about-" Jessan stopped a gaped first at the large wounds on Amira's shoulders then at the horse she was stroking lovingly. "Jessan, this is Klea. She is my horse now.
